tantra

So, what is Tantra?  It seems to be a popular term in the west, yet a quick internet image search makes it obvious that traditional tantra and western tantra exercise quite different approaches.  Most Western circles view Tantra as a sexual practice that heightens pleasure and betters performance.  A few Western circles even include individual/partner council and/or massage.  The practices employed by the practitioner tend to center around enhancing the erotic quality of romantic interactions.  Exercises like root heart connecting and ... bring two people closer and help them to develop a dialogue that leads to better relations.   In the east, this is not so.  Tantra, even left-hand (which may involve intercourse...), has a different purpose and different methodologies.  In the east, tantra is an individual pursuit by which Tantrikas refine energy and dissolve ideas of separation in all levels of life.

Sexual energy is different than desire/lust, just as sexual polarities  are different than gender. When we realize that sexual energy or physical/causal body kriyas (movements) as creative energy, we can move into or beyond sexual methods for expressing deeply rooted emotions. Technologies like mantra, yantra or murti puja and pratyahara rebuild inner and outer bodies, impart special abilities and ...  Maithuna, or sacred sex, isn't a couple uniting and pleasing each other, during maithuna- both participants become Godddess and God and pleasure is not the focus.  Moving beyond emotion and expectation are paramount as Maithuna is an ultimate expression of unity, which continuously occurs without effort or thought.  Thoughts and effort literally take you out of present time as they force you to judge and evaluate- things that only apply to the past and future.  This level of self control is attained by sitting in meditation and doing practices that enhance the mind/body.

To resolve these differences, we refer to two schools here in the west, white tantra and pink tantra.  I teach both and enjoy fusing the two.
